Soldering Competition

Come and join the most exciting soldering competition of the year! Get ready to showcase your skills in a challenging competition that celebrates craftsmanship. Whether you have a lot of experience or you’re an enthusiastic beginner, this competition is for anyone passionate about soldering techniques and electronics.

Step into a competition where you can push your soldering skills to the limit. From the finest precision work in SMD to soldering the largest through-hole components, this competition challenges you to push your boundaries and showcase your abilities.

In addition to showcasing your expertise, this competition also provides a platform to network and meet industry professionals who are advancing soldering technology. The company Romex will demonstrate the importance of traceability in the automotive and medical industries and how it is currently being achieved.

14:45 – !5:30 Afternoon activity

Let off some steam! After a day of listening and paying attention, it’s time for something different. We will actively work together with the Network activity! Compete and watch with each other in an informal way

What we are going to do is a surprise, but it will certainly be fun! “Let’s see if we have all-rounders (alleskunners) within ESE.”

13:15 Propedeuse ceremony

“Do you have enough credits for your P?” from “Have you obtained your P yet?” If you study at a university of applied science, fellow students will ask you these questions at some point. That ‘P’ is the abbreviation for propaedeutic year!

When a HBO student receives his or her propaedeutic certificate, this means that he or she has passed all the subjects of the first year and that is a reason to celebrate!

During this ceremony, together with all ESE students and teachers, we present the propaedeutic certificates.

14:00 – 14:45 Keynote – Flora Poppelaars

Design for a Circular EconomyKeynote

Our current way of producing and consuming has no future. We extract raw materials from the ground, turn them into products then throw them away. This system is accompanied by a lot of pollution, losses and scarcity of resources. To address this, you can design for a circular economy. In a circular economy, products, components and materials are maintained at their highest possible usability and value at all times.

How do you design electronics in a circular manner? Flora Poppelaars will introduce the principles and design strategies of a circular economy. Discover how you can apply this to your products. You will explore opportunities around, for example, material choices, reparability, recycling and alternative business models. Get inspired and receive concrete guidelines to design for a circular economy!

09:30 – 12:30 Workshops and Presentations

While the program is still under development, you can rest assured that we will have an engaging keynote this year as well. Furthermore, numerous lectures and workshops are scheduled to provide you with a current perspective on embedded systems. One thing is certain: we’ll kick off the day with an opening, provide lunch, and conclude with a social gathering.

Due to limited slots for each workshop or presentation, you can indicate your preferences via an online form. The organization of the ESE Day will strive to create the best possible schedule based on this data. (Link to the form: https://forms.office.com/e/9u6G0gFkrP )

ESE Day on 26th of January 2024

Embedded Systems Engineering organizes the “ESE day” for its students.

A day on which we, as ESE students, teachers, and alumni, will get to know each other better. The day is covered with all aspects that you may expect from the ESE-field.

During workshops and presentations, you are actively involved. Not only in the Embedded Systems Engineering, but also in the course. You will meet fellow students, former students, and teachers of the study programme.

This ESE day will be organized on 26 January for all employees and students of the HAN Embedded Systems Engineering programme. The ESE day will be held in the building at Ruitenberglaan 26, Arnhem, starting at 9:00 AM and ending at 4:00 PM. The program is divided into a morning and an afternoon session. In the morning part, workshops and presentations will be given by various companies and alumni. In the afternoon we get to work to get to know each other and our education better. There is no better place to start networking among your fellow students and teachers.

-589Days -4Hours -36Minutes -49Seconds

Remember that the ESE day has a mandatory character. We, therefore, expect all students to be present on this day.
